Beyond the pages of his books, Steve McDonald founded Walking in Step With God Ministries on a simple conviction: nothing is more fulfilling and rewarding than a close walk with God.
The Story
From a Personal Walk to a Public Ministry
Steve spent more than two decades as a software engineer — a career built on logic, problem-solving, and precision. But his deepest calling was never written in code.
In 2022, he began sharing short video messages about faith on YouTube, speaking plainly about doubt, trust, and walking with God through the ordinary pressures of everyday life. What started as a handful of videos grew into Walking in Step With God Ministries, a registered 501(c)(3) organization reaching people across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and beyond.
The Heart
A Judgment-Free Space for Every Journey
Steve believes faith should be personal, transformative, and inclusive. The ministry is intentionally built as a welcoming, judgment-free space — whether you've walked with God for decades or are asking your first honest questions.
That same analytical mind that served him in engineering now shapes his teaching: practical, step-by-step, and grounded in Scripture — the approach behind his 100 Steps With God book series and every message he shares.
“Live life boldly with God.” That's the invitation at the center of everything the ministry does — messages on freedom in surrender, quiet time with God, waiting on His timing, faith in the workplace, and being a light to the world.
The Message
Meeting People Where They Are
Every week, Steve shares Scripture-grounded messages and multi-part teaching series — each paired with a "Going Deeper With the Word" companion study for those who want more.
Alongside the written messages, short video reels and discussions bring bite-sized truth to social media, and the ministry's podcast makes room for longer conversations about real-life faith. Daily devotions and guided prayers round out a rhythm anyone can step into, wherever they are.
The Mission
Faith Put Into Action
The ministry is more than messages. Through its prayer community, requests are shared and lifted up together, and weekly challenges invite people to live out what they hear.
Steve also founded Bridge of Kindness, a companion 501(c)(3) nonprofit built on three words: Compassion. Contribution. Community. Through targeted quarterly missions, it identifies community organizations with urgent needs and mobilizes compassionate donors and volunteers to meet them — serving people experiencing homelessness and economic hardship, and supporting youth programs and educational initiatives.
